AED Instructors Course
This course is designed to train suitably qualified personnel as tutor/assessors for delivering Automated External Defibrillator Courses.
Automated defibrillators are becoming more common in the workplace and public areas, as well as being carried by the emergency services. This one day course is designed to give personnel who have access to a defibrillator, and has the required qualifications, the knowledge, skills and confidence to enable them to instruct and assess Automated External Defibrillator (AED) courses. Delegates must hold a current AED certificate to attend the course.
The course content includes the following subjects:
- Instructional techniques
- Casualty assessment
- Recovery position
- CPR protocols
- Anatomy of the heart
- Chain of survival
- What is an AED and how does it work?
- AED use and safety protocols
The course is made up of both theory and practical sessions, including the actual use of a defibrillator and associated equipment.
On completion of the course, if the required standards are met, delegates are awarded a AED Trainer/Assessor certificate that is valid for one year, and a renewed defibrillation certificate that is also valid for one year, which is in line with current UK Resuscitation guidelines.
Automated External Defibrillators (AED), are very safe and effective when used properly. Therefore, it is important to follow the operating instructions that come from the manufacturer of defibrillator.
